Chapter 3 - Who Dares, Wynn

Postby Cass MacLarney » Mon May 20, 2013 8:30 am

Cass was towel drying her hair, far less tired than she had any right to be, when her phone rang. Letting the towel drop, she padded across the plush carpet and retrieved her phone from her jacket pocket, frowning lightly as she noticed the pin that had been given to her by Leo at the diner glowing lightly, and the sound of the ocean, with the tang of saltwater, wafting from it. Odd. "Cass MacLarney," she said as she picked up the call. She held the handset away from her ear for a few seconds as a screaming tirade from Thor's mouthy daughter came tearing down the line at her. "Yeah, yeah, I know," she snapped back, glancing over at Fenris and rolling her eyes. "I'll be there in fifteen minutes." Another tirade. "Yeah, I'll get Fenris up too." She grinned at Fenris with the double entendre and ended the call. Arcing an eyebrow up at Fenris, she shrugged. "We've been summoned. Drugstore Cafe beside the casino, in fifteen minutes."

Fenris was just finishing putting on his biker leathers again, adorning them like a suit of armor. "Next time she yells at you, quietly say the word 'bitch' and watch her come to an absolute halt. You can usually get your point across in the silence that follows." Fenris walked by Cass, grabbing her ass on the way by, and opened the two doors that separated her room from his. The wolf was opened an eye from where it was sleeping in the center of that room's bed. "In or out?" It huffed and closed its eyes again, causing Fenris to close the door once more. "Looks like I'm ready."

Cass snorted with laughter, grabbing a hair tie from her bag, and tugging her damp russet hair back into a low ponytail. "Bitch is one thing she certainly seems to be," she grinned. "I'll remember that for next time." Squealing lightly as Fenris grabbed her ass, Cass secured her holster, and made sure the gun was in place before shrugging on her jacket. She frowned at the pin. "This is doing some weird shit," she remarked, poking at the pin to see if it would do anything else. It didn't. "What about yours? Yours behaving?"

): He dug his pin out of a pocket and grunted. "Sounds like dad's laughter... and smells like giant. Just about what I'd expect from him. Is it supposed to mean something?" Fenris stuffed it back into the inner pocket of his leather jacket. It was obvious that, being the son of Loki, Fenris had long since stopped stressing over the meaning of anything he was presented with until it could be nailed down entirely. "So... are we keeping a secret or something?"

Cass couldn’t hear or smell anything coming from Fenris's pin, and arced an eyebrow. "Lemme guess... you can't hear or see mine doing anything either...?" Looked as though their dearest dads had gifted them with... something that only they could see a change in. Typical from two trickster gods. However, she still didn't have a clue what it might mean. "You bet your ass it's probably supposed to mean something," she grinned, shaking her head. "And... I don't care if we keep it secret or not," she said candidly. "I couldn't give a shit what anyone thinks." She simply hadn't known which way Fenris had wanted to play things. Checking the contents of her purse to make sure that she had everything she might need, she openly checked out Fenris, too. "You know... you are SO not my type," she laughed. "But damned if I don't want you anyway. Ready to go?"

"Hope it ain't supposed to be the bat signal, cause hearing him laughing never makes me feel heroic." He stepped closer to her, leaning down to speak in a soft voice to her. "I'm terrible at secrets but you ain't a decoration either... you're exactly my type, Red." He turned, throwing his arm around her shoulder much like he'd done the night before at the diner, and escorted her out for a short work to... a drug store?

Cass felt a small, smug smile settle into place as Fenris slipped a proprietary arm around her shoulders one more time, making it clear that he had no interest in dancing around keeping secrets, any more than she did. The Casino was on the first floor, as was the Drugstore Cafe, and, as Cass and Fenris exited her room - their room now, from the looks of it - they ran into Horus's son, the idiot who had grabbed her ass the night before. She shot him an overly-innocent and polite smile, and nodded towards the elevator. "Going down," she asked politely, and gave Fenris's waist a squeeze, making it clear that she was very much not for the other Scion's taking.

Fenris grinned that half smile again as he took them out into the hall. Horus' boy... what the hell was a 'Horus' anyway? Fenris had had precious little contact with the Scions of Egyptian deities but he knew one thing, any god that had to have as many names as theirs did wasn't getting caught up in language shifts. They'd been too weak to maintain their positions without absorbing every neighboring village's religious concepts along the way. Cass politely, and indirectly, recommended the tiny tanned man keep moving but all he did was stare blankly as if seeing a puzzle so alien he couldn't perceive it properly, let alone begin to solve it.

Halfway through a sudden growl Fenris snapped out a few simple words to help his fellow Scion make heads and tails of the situation. "She means move it, sandbiter." He didn't let go of her shoulder but loosened his grip as he took a half step toward the smaller male, sending the guy moving backward toward the elevators involuntarily. As it should be, though a sullen look crossed Horus-son's face as he stabbed at the button while looking over his shoulder at them. For the moment, Fenris could tolerate that.

Stifling a snort as Fenris gave a very clear message to the other Scion - asshole that he was - Cass maintained a pleasant, polite smile, almost as though she had "forgotten" the other man's assault on her person the night before. She hadn't forgotten; she would simply take revenge in her own time. She shared a secret smile with Fenris as they waited behind the "sandbiter" for the elevator to arrive. It seemed to take forever, and she was content to stand there, her arm around his waist, showing precisely where she stood in the grand scheme of things. Perhaps it was dangerous, aligning herself publicly with the son of Loki, but she couldn't care less. The elevator finally dinged as it arrived on their floor, and Cass stepped inside, flashing another smug smile at the other Scion as she went to stand behind him, wiggling her brows upwards at Fenris. This was turning out to be fun.

Fenris stepped into the elevator and the other male found a wall to hold up, facing the front of the space quietly. Fenris hit the lobby button and leaned against the back of the elevator facing the center, his body language making the space his as he crossed his ankles, leaned hard, and settled his hands on the bar that was hip high on him and waist high on most everybody else. "The lady, static cling, say what it was we were supposed to be doing going downstairs this ungodly hour?" Fenris was well aware that it was nearly 8 hours past civil sunrise, he'd watched the yellow orb give Cass’s crimson hair the quality of a forge's fire with his own golden eyes.
